Six things, checked against your market
None of these work in isolation. A profile problem caps what ranking work can achieve, and rankings you have already paid for are wasted on a page nobody waits for. The assessment grades each one and, more usefully, says which is holding the others back.
Google Business Profile
Whether the profile is complete, current, and saying the same thing as everywhere else.
The profile is the single biggest lever most local businesses have and the one most often half-filled. Categories, service areas, hours, attributes and photos all feed how often you surface in the map pack — and a category chosen once at setup and never revisited is the most common thing we find capping an otherwise healthy business.
Local searchLocal search rankings
Where you actually appear for the searches that bring in paying work.
Not one number. Rankings move by neighborhood, by device and by exactly how a search is phrased, and what you see searching your own name is skewed by your location and history. We check the terms with buying intent behind them and name the competitors sitting above you on each.
Local searchReviews
Volume, rating, how recent they are, and how many went unanswered.
Owners fixate on the star average, which matters least of the four. Recency signals an active business, and replying — to the bad ones especially — is read as trust by search engines and by every customer who scrolls before calling. A 4.9 with nothing since last year performs worse than a live 4.5.
Reputation managementWebsite speed and mobile
How the site behaves on a phone, on a network that is not your office wifi.
Speed and mobile behavior are separate from how a site looks, and a recent redesign is no guarantee of either. If a page takes five seconds, a good share of the traffic you paid for is gone before it renders. We check load time, layout on a small screen, and whether calling or booking takes one obvious tap.
Website developmentSocial consistency
Whether the accounts are current, claimed, and matching your other listings.
Social rarely wins the customer on its own, but a dead profile at the top of a branded search costs you one. We look at whether the accounts exist where people search for you, whether the details agree with your listings, and whether the posting cadence suggests a business worth calling.
Social mediaCompetitor gap
What the businesses ranking above you are doing that you are not.
This is the part that makes the rest actionable. Your own numbers in isolation are hard to judge; the same numbers next to three competitors in your market turn a vague worry into a specific gap — usually one of review volume, profile completeness or page speed, and usually fixable.
Work with a strategistA score, then an order to fix things in
The numbers arrive first, by email, graded section by section and set next to businesses competing for the same customers. That comparison is what makes them worth reading — it turns “our reviews are fine” into something you can check rather than assume.
Then a strategist goes through it and tells you where to start. Almost always that is the worst-scoring section rather than the easiest one: listings and reviews move in weeks and cost little, and rankings follow them rather than leading, so a listings problem left alone quietly caps everything you spend on search afterwards.
You are not required to do any of it with us. Plenty of people take the findings to their own team or their existing agency, which is a perfectly good outcome — an independent read on whether what you are paying for is actually moving is worth having either way.
Questions people ask first
Nothing, and there is no obligation attached to it. You are not signing up for a trial, and you can act on what it says with your current agency, your own team, or nobody at all.
The scorecard is the automated part — it grades your listings, reviews, rankings and site against the businesses you compete with. The assessment is what happens next: a strategist reads those numbers against your market and tells you which one to fix first and why. Same starting point, different depth.
See the scorecardYour full assessment lands in your inbox within 48 hours, because a strategist is actually going through it rather than generating a template.
No. Everything we look at is already public — your listings, reviews, rankings and website as any customer would find them. Nothing is connected, nothing is changed, and no logins are needed.
Often more so. An assessment run by someone who is not managing the work gives you an independent read on whether what you are paying for is moving. Plenty of people take ours back to their existing agency, and that is a fine outcome.
You will get the findings whether or not you want to talk about them. If you do want a conversation about fixing what it found, that is free too — but the report stands on its own and is yours either way.
Start with the location that matters most; most of what it finds will apply across the group. For a proper multi-location rollup, get in touch and we will put one together by hand.
