Run One Holiday Promotion Across Every Location

A holiday offer that reads differently at every location confuses customers and staff alike. Settle it once in October, then let each site make it local.

4 min read

In a multi-location business, the holiday promotion usually starts as one idea and ends up as several. Head office announces an offer. One location tweaks the wording, another runs it a week late, a third never hears about it, and a fourth invents its own because nothing arrived in time. By December a customer can see three different versions of the same deal depending on which page, post or front desk they happen to meet.

None of that is anyone being difficult. It is what happens when the decisions that should be made once are left to be made at every location, under deadline, in the busiest weeks of the year. The fix is to settle those decisions in October and hand each location something finished.

Decide the shared parts once

Some things should be identical everywhere, because a customer who sees two versions stops trusting either. Agree these centrally and write them down on one page:

  • The offer itself, in exact words, including what it excludes.
  • The start date and the end date, with a time and time zone if it ends at midnight.
  • The approved images and the one headline every version uses.
  • How a customer redeems it: a code, a mention at booking, a form, or a link.
  • Who answers questions about it, and where staff go when a customer pushes back.

This is the same split that runs through good franchise marketing generally, and what corporate controls and what the franchisee owns covers it in more detail. The holiday promotion is simply the moment that split gets tested hardest.

Leave room for each location to make it local

A promotion that is identical down to the last word reads like a national chain, even when the business is three sites in one county. Give each location a short list of things it may change: its own address and hours, a photo of its own team or storefront, a local event it is tied to, and a line about the neighborhood. Those details are what make someone nearby believe the offer is meant for them.

Each location's holiday hours belong in the same pack. A promotion that sends people to a door that turns out to be closed does more harm than no promotion, so update holiday hours on Google for every location before the offer goes out, not after the first complaint.

Decide the offer once, centrally. Let every location decide how it sounds on their street.

Publish it everywhere on the same day

Staggered launches are where most of the inconsistency creeps in. Pick a launch day and have every piece ready before it: the offer on each location's page, a post on each Google Business Profile, the social posts, the in-store signs, and a short note for staff explaining exactly what the deal is. Managing every location from one dashboard makes this far easier, because a post scheduled once goes out to every site rather than relying on each manager to remember.

Brief the people at the front desk and on the phones before customers start asking. A customer who mentions the offer and gets a blank look has just learned that the business does not talk to itself.

Measure it per location, not just in total

A brand-wide total tells you whether the promotion worked overall. It does not tell you that two locations carried it while another saw nothing. Give each location its own code, link or tracking number so redemptions land against the right site, and check them weekly while the offer runs. A location that is lagging in the first week can still be helped; one you only spot in January cannot. Getting leads to the right site in the first place is its own problem, covered in who gets the lead when the ad names no location.

If keeping every location in step is more than your team can manage during the season, Vizible's multi-location brand management puts every profile, post and review in one place. You can also see how we would plan the season for your locations in a free growth proposal.

Frequently asked questions

Should every location run the same holiday promotion?
The offer, dates, headline and redemption method should be the same everywhere so customers see one consistent deal. Each location should still add its own address, hours, photos and local details.
When should a multi-location business plan its holiday promotion?
In October. That leaves time to agree the offer centrally, build each location's version, update holiday hours and brief staff before the first customers start asking in November.
How do I track a promotion by location?
Give each location its own promo code, link or call tracking number, so every redemption is recorded against the site that earned it. Review the numbers weekly while the offer is running.
What is the most common mistake with multi-location promotions?
Launching on different days at different locations. Staggered launches lead to mismatched wording, out-of-date posts and staff who do not know the offer exists.
